gINT v. 5 Agency Log Reports:
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation:
Engineers Field Boring Log
Drillers Boring Log
Test Pit Log
Boring Sheet
English or Metric units Input
English or Metric units Output
REVISION HISTORY
================
20 June 2003:
1. Under certain conditions, the "NA" printed in columns at depths of core samples in the PA DOT BORING and PA DOT DRILLERS logs could overlap other data. We have rewritten the entities to avoid this problem.
2. Removed an unneeded vertical line that was off the page at the left of the PA DOT BORING SHEET log.
*************************************
29 October 2002:
1. The surface elevation was not being converted to metric on metric output on the PA DOT BORING and PA DOT TEST PIT log forms. These have been fixed.
2. Added the ability to input data in metric with the field Input Units in the PROJECT table. The default is English so projects created with the previous structure (which assumed English input) will still work.
3. It has come to our attention that PA DOT requires that the soil recovery length be shown in feet or millimeters in soil and feet or meters in rock. Previously the files were set up with inches or millimeters in soil. Projects created with the previous structure will have to have the soil recovery lengths converted to feet if data was input in English units.
*************************************
01 September 2002:
1. The revised Drillers Boring Log introduced on 18 August had slight cosmetic flaw. The DATE STARTED/COMPLETED was formated with "/" delimiters in the date and a "/" between the dates so that the output appeared as: 2/21/01/2/22/01. Changed the separator between dates to a "-" so now it appears as:
DATE STARTED - COMPLETED 2/21/01 - 2/22/01
*************************************
18 August 2002:
1. One of our clients pointed out that our Drillers Boring Log was just the page 2 of the form. We have revised the form to put on the many data items on page 1. Page 2 and subsequent pages have the reduced header and larger body that the previous form had. This revision required the addition of many new fields to the BOREHOLE / TEST PIT (POINT) table. Existing projects will still work with the new forms. If you wish to convert projects that have the previous data structure to the new data structure, use the Utilities:Convert Projects application with the new PA_DOT.GDT data template.
*************************************
11 June 2002:
1. Converted forms and database to version 5 format.
*************************************
17 April 2001:
1. Added Boring Sheet Log form. This is set up to be exported to a DXF file for import into the final boring sheet drawing.
2. Restructured the forms and database to take advantage of the many new capabilities introduced since the previous release of the forms.
3. The new forms have been renamed (the underscores between the words were removed) so projects created with earlier database structures can still be output using the older versions. However, the data template name is the same as the last version of these files so if you want to keep the earlier data template (PA_DOT.GDT), back it up or rename it before installing.
*************************************
11 November 1998:
1.Added Drillers Boring Log form
*************************************
20 May 1998:
1. Redesign for changes made by PA DOT and put in support for metric output. Report and data template names are the same as the 08 February 1998 version so if you wish to keep that version, rename the old before merging and copying this version.
*************************************
08 February 1998:
1. Redesigned to more closely match the PA DOT forms.
2. Report and data template names are changed so the 16 April 1997 versions will still be intact after installing the current version.

16 April 1997:

PA_DOT.GDT
gINT project data template. You will clone this file to create new project files.
PA_DOT.GPJ
gINT project file containing a borehole and test pit of example data. You can use this file to clarify any input procedure questions by looking at the way the data was entered in the Input application. You can also output this data using the report template to see what the final output looks like.
*************************************************
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:
Copy PA_DOT.GDT to your gINT data template directory (usually C:\PROGRAM FILES\GINT\DATATMPL or C:\PROGRAM FILES\GINTW\DATATMPL).
Copy PA_DOT.GPJ to your gINT projects directory (usually C:\PROGRAM FILES\GINT\PROJECTS or C:\PROGRAM FILES\GINTW\PROJECTS).
Merge PA_DOT.GLB:
Bring up gINT.
Move to the Utilities application group and then to the Lib Merge/Copy application.
Mark "Merge From".
Specify the source library file as PA_DOT.GLB. Remember to specify the path or use the launch button (...) to select the file with a file dialog.
Check the selection and query options to best meet your needs. If you wish to merge all of the above, mark Select All and Never Query.
Move all of the tables from the Available Source Table column to the Tables to Merge/Copy column by clicking the >> button.
Click the Execute button.
*************************************************
SPECIAL NOTES:
The database is set up with the combined requirements of all reports. There are some fields that are only used by one of the forms. The field help line at the bottom of the input screens will tell you if a field is used only by one or the other form. One table (BORING SHEET) has fields just for the BORING SHEET log form.
Input can be in English or Metric units. The reports will convert automatically if output units are different than input units. However, units sensitive data embedded within text must be converted manually and input in output units.
