New Requirement for Electronic Submittal of Geotechnical Information (ESGI) Designed to Streamline Filings and Ensure Data Accuracy
Windsor, CA, April 17, 2008—gINT Software's industry-standard geotechnical software solution now supports a new requirement to submit geotechnical data in an electronic format by the State of Nevada’s Clark County Department of Development Services, Building Division (CCDDS-BD).
According to the new CCDDS-BD protocol, Electronic Submittal of Geotechnical Information (ESGI) is mandatory for any project that requires a geotechnical report (soils report). All applications filed on or after January 7, 2008, for a building or a structure that requires the submittal of a geotechnical report shall be accompanied by certain surface and subsurface geotechnical information (ESGI data) in an electronic format.”
Currently, there are two available options for electronic report submittal. The first option, for geotechnical firms that use gINT, is extremely easy due to gINT’s automated export into the ESGI database. Another option involves manually entering data into the ESGI database, which is far more labor intensive, and lacks gINT’s automated checking for incorrect or inconsistent data to ensure accuracy. If CCDDS-BD determines that there are missing or obvious errors in the ESGI data, the permit will be on hold until the errors are resolved.
“We’re pleased to support Clark County in their electronic submission process,” said Salvatore Caronna, founder and president of gINT Software. “This is the latest of many initiatives we have undertaken to support data management in the public and private sectors. We’ve built many features into our database that streamline geotechnical reporting, making it easier for geotechnical engineers to create and submit error-free reports, ultimately helping to optimize data management tasks for agencies and builders alike.”
